EPC legal counsel EMEA

Main Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, including both BOS/BOP (Balance of System/Balance of Plant) agreements for large-scale photovoltaic and energy storage projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate O&M (Operation and Maintenance) contracts for large-scale photovoltaic and energy storage projects. 
  • Draft, review, and negotiate subcontracts, equipment supply agreements and construction and operation related services agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate guarantees and securities (e.g., SBLCs, bank bonds, parent company guarantees, etc.).
  • Assess risks and provide mitigation measures related to EPC and O&M contracts, and related project agreements.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams (construction, project finance, and operations) to identify and resolve potential legal issues.
  • Support to construction and operation teams in the management of contracts, including but not limited to support in drafting and responding contractual communications, claims, executing bank guarantees, and other legal daily construction and operation activities.
  • Lead litigation and arbitration strategies and coordinate with external law firms to support the proceedings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in law in the UK or EU countries; additional qualifications in energy law or construction law would be a plus.
  • 6-8 years of legal experience, with a focus on EPC contracts and renewable energy, particularly in photovoltaic and energy storage projects.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and management in the context of large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy regulations and industry practices, particularly within the EU and UK markets.
  • Expertise in negotiating and managing EPC and O&M contracts and supply agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex legal and contractual issues effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders and manage relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
